"If These Logs Could Talk" 2nd event of the season

19th Century Weaponry & Accoutrements with David Wright and Michael Agee

2:00 pm Sunday, June 18th on the breezeway at Wynnewood

This program to be presented by historical painter, David Wright and 8th/19th century re-enactor and craftsman, Michael Agee.  They will discuss weaponry and accoutrements used by the Long Hunters, soldiers of the War of 1812, Mexican War and the Civil War.

What a perfect outing for the Dads in your family on Father's Day ... pioneer adventure, frontier survival, and three wars in succession.  Guns and knives could mean life or death in those times.  Join us to learn about weapons and other essential equipment of the 18th and 19th Century.

Please bring a chair.  Admission is $5.00 for all attendees (including BLHA members).  Or included with full tour admission.

This season's first "If These Logs Could Talk" program took place Sunday, May 21st on the breezeway at Wynnewood.

Program on Historic Quilting presented by Cindy Stewart of Maryville, TN, certified appraiser and professional quilt restorer. She did a most interesting and informative program.  We appreciate her coming on short notice after planned speaker became ill.

Oil portrait of Wynnewood builder now being restored

At long last, Wynnewood's oil portrait of our builder, A.R. Wynne, has been delivered to a professional conservator for restoration.  Robin Devilling, Jane Wright, Kathleen Haynes, and Debbie Spero did the transporting to Cynthia Stow's Cumberland Art Conservation just off West End in Nashville on May 10, 2017.  Cynthia is a fellow of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) with over 30 years of professional experience.  She specializes in 19th and early 20th Century Southern Art. 2.ready to knock.k      3.removing frame.k

This project is partially underwritten by grants from Clark Chapter DAR in Gallatin and the Questors in Hendersonville.  We will still need matching funds to complete the job, so we invite BLHA members and our friends in the community to contribute to the portrait restoration fund.  To do so, click on CONTACT US at bottom of the page and send us an email indicating your interest to help.
